Laura’s First Impression

I join Sri Lanka for the third month of my world tour. For years I having been longing to visit this country: exotic, charming and full of eastern wonders and I don’t think I could have chosen a better place to begin my time here.

Sakula, his family and staff could not have given me a warmer welcome; true to its name, Greenview Homestay certainly feels like home. Surrounded by forest, it is impossible not to feel serene with a light breeze and the birds chirping to keep me company.

After spending two months in Africa, it is refreshing to see another lower-middle-income country bustling and thriving in its own chaotic way. Even more refreshing to drive on tarmac roads and have a warm shower!!

The food has been another highlight, as a self confessed foodie I have been enjoying each meal of incredibly fresh, vibrant and diverse dishes, even if they are a little spicy for my European palette!

Bathing with Asian elephants, riding tuk tuks and curry for breakfast have all been bizarre but exciting encounters of which I cannot wait to keep experiencing.
